Bekaert is always on the look out for any innovation that might contribute to the well-being of its employees, which is why it has implemented Crash Stopper from Carttec to prevent workplace accidents on its premises.

Bekaert is a world leader in steel wire processing and coating technologies, with a presence in more than 120 countries and a team of 30,000 employees. They have recently implemented the Crash Stopper safety system at UBISA, its plant in Burgos, Spain.

Crash Stopper is an anti-collision safety system between operators and industrial vehicles. It works by tracking people and machines, which are equipped with positioning devices so that they can be located with an accuracy of 10 cm.

People are fitted with bracelets or cards that allow the system to identify them as “obstacles”, while vehicles, whether they be electric or combustion, are fitted with beacons and alarms that allow the system to locate them with complete accuracy and issue real-time alerts.

Bekaert has also gone even further by marking all the crossings in the facilities that are deemed the least safe. Preventing material losses is important for the company, but more important is the safety of its employees – after all, the main priority is to protect their lives.
